Air India to Deploy Newest Dream liner Under Operational Limits Pending FAA Nod

  • by
Air India will start operating its new Boeing 787-9 Dream liner on the Mumbai–Frankfurt route from February 1, 2026, but the aircraft will initially fly with certain features unavailable because it is still awaiting approvals from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Specifically, the sliding privacy doors in business class will remain fixed open and 18 economy class seats will be blocked from use until full certification is received. The jet, the first custom-built Dream liner for Air India since the Tata Group takeover, has 296 seats across business, premium economy and economy classes.
