India is intensifying its focus on becoming a major global player in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector through the creation of city-level convention bureaus and the implementation of a unified national strategy. During the IEIA South India Meet held in Chennai, senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism, along with state government representatives and industry stakeholders, outlined a comprehensive roadmap aimed at strengthening India’s MICE ecosystem. The plan includes elevating 10 Indian cities into globally competitive MICE destinations, with an initial emphasis on southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala. By improving destination marketing, infrastructure coordination, and international outreach, India aims to significantly increase its share in the USD 850 billion global MICE market
